Five Fastest Hundreds by Indian Batters In IPL

Before we start, here is the kicker: you might be surprised by the kinds of names you will see here. Yes, in this list, which we have featured below, you have the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Murali Vijay, and Yusuf Pathan, people who have silently gone away from public memory. The only exception is Virat Kohli!

Batter Team Opposition Balls Taken
Yusuf Pathan RR MI 37
Mayank Agarwal PBKS RR 45
Murali Vijay CSK RR 46
Virat Kohli RCB PBKS 47
Virender Sehwag DD DC 48

Yusuf Pathan:

Yusuf Pathan has the record for the fastest century scored by an Indian in IPL history.

Pathan, who was playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2010, smashed a century in just 37 balls at the Brabourne Stadium against the Mumbai Indians.

 Mayank Agarwal:

The second fastest Indian century in IPL came from Punjab Kings’ (then Kings XI Punjab) Mayank Agarwal, who smashed it in just 45 balls.

It was the ninth match of the 2020 IPL season where Punjab were up against Rajasthan at Sharjah.

Murali Vijay:

The third century we are revisiting belongs to Murali Vijay, who played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2010.

It was during this season that CSK were up against the Rajasthan Royals.

Virat Kohli:

It was the breakthrough season for King Kohli as he went on to smash 973 runs, which also had four hundreds. One of these hundreds came against Kings XI Punjab which came at Chinnaswamy Stadium in front of a vociferous home crowd.

Virender Sehwag:

Sehwag smashed his century in 48 balls, which came at Hyderabad in the 2011 season of the IPL.

Final Thoughts

These are some of the finest innings ever played in the IPL, especially from the Indian batters.

Interestingly, the fastest ever century that was scored went to a losing cause. In fact, the second century also went in vain, as Punjab went on to lose despite a fine knock from Agarwal.

However, the rest of the three batters would feel quite accomplished since they not only had three-figure marks to their names, but also helped their teams win.

Sehwag’s century stands out as it single-handedly won Delhi the match.
